Panasonic sample photos : At the PMA 2008 Panasonic introduced their next Traveler Zoom camera; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. Today the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 is available at your local dealer and we also received one of the test samples Panasonic provide the media. The 9.1-megapixel Panasonic TZ5 features a 28mm wide-angle 10x optical zoom Leica DC lens in a compact body and integrates the capability of recording 720p HD motion pictures together with its direct output function allowing users to watch both still and motion pictures in HD quality. The high-performance image-processing LSI has newly entered its fourth generation, to be reborn as Venus Engine IV to assure higher-quality pictures with an advanced signal processing system.

The Intelligent Scene Selector sets the appropriate scene mode by automatically selecting it from the most frequently used scene modes, such as Portrait, Scenery, Macro, Night Portrait and Night Scenery. The Face Detection system detects human faces to set the focus and appropriate exposure for them automatically. Continuous AF system allows the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 to keep focus on the subject even without pressing a shutter button halfway, to get best result out of a shutter chance by minimizing the AF time.
Panasonic 28mm wide-angle lens
The 28mm wide-angle lens makes it easy to fit the whole group into a photo indoors or to capture dynamic wide-perspective shots of a sweeping landscape or large architectural structure. The CCD in Panasonic Lumix TZ5 can reproduce images shot with the lens set from 28mm to 280mm in any of three aspect ratios – 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9.

The Panasonic TZ5 test shots are made in and around The Dom in Utrecht, the Netherlands with a full production camera model and should be judged accordingly. The article pictures have been reduced to enable correct reproduction and compressed for a faster loading time. The original pictures have not been edited. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 is one of the models we are testing at this moment. As soon as we analyzed the test results and finished our conclusions we will publish a full Panasonic Lumix TZ5 review.
